Leather Care
Natural leathers are basically impossible to keep in a
pristine state. It's not because of the quality - all
our current hides are "M" grade (with a minimum
thickness of 1.2mm). Natural leathers have no pigment
top finish; the beauty of natural grain variation is
therefore emphasised and the marks and scars of the
animal are not covered up. These "markings" and
colourations highlight the distinguishing difference of
a superior product. This leather will appeal to those
people who pride themselves on their ability to
recognise real quality. Our natural leathers are all
scotch guarded and UV Ray treated.
Our pigmented leathers are also "M" grade and as such
they are more resistant to general surface wear and
tear. The pigment not only covers many of the marks and
scars but it also acts as a protector to the actual
hide.
We recommend you follow these rules in the care of your
leather:
1. Regularly vacuum (carefully) to remove surface dust
and dirt
2. Remove spilled liquids quickly with a damp cloth.
Allow drying away from heat.
3. Do not rub hard and never use detergents or abrasive
cleaning compounds.
4. Do not expose to direct sunlight, intense heat,
weather or UV Rays.
5. Wipe over with a soft cloth, moistened with soapy
water; after direct contact with bare skin. Acids (from
the skin), chlorine and salt degrades the leather
quickly and must be avoided.
6. Do not try to remove ink or other indelible marks.
Live with them.
7. Cuts and nicks in leather are difficult to repair and
necessitate factory service.
Please Remember: a) whatever the prevention method
employed, leather (like our own skin) will mark in the
passage of time b) There are organizations that
specialize in service and revitalizations of leather and
upholstery. If you have a problem call an expert.
